I am fascinated by the relationship between mind and body - the tension between our instinctive nature and the patterns of thought that often confine us. Blockhead reflects this contrast: an animal-like body with a rigid, geometric head. Fragments of thought are not contained solely within the mind but are etched onto its surface, spilling out and merging with the body.
The sculpture was first modelled in clay, then moulded and cast in durable marble resin, giving it a stone-like quality.
