Thing On A Spring

Thing on a Spring is born from a fascination with texture, corrosion, and the hidden narratives of salvaged remnants. What began conceptually as a fox gradually evolved - sprouting fins then an armoury of spiky nails - to become a hybrid creature where nature and industry have fused.

The organic, defensive body and protruding nails are hand-sculpted from layered cardboard, papier-mâché and paper clay, then finished with oxidising paint allows natural rusting to develop organically over time. Suspended above a heavy, salvaged stainless steel spring and industrial base.
